A great quality straw hat. If you don’t buy this hat, it will be on an Amish man’s head!
This hat is made of braided rice straw, sewn together in Amish homes as a “cottage industry”, and brought to the local Amish hatmaker to add the finishing touches. The hat comes with a soft sweatband sewn into the hat. The black ribbon and bow are included, but not attached. You can affix the ribbon and bow with glue or a couple of stitches.
Our hat sizes are calculated using the average diameter of your head. You can calculate this by dividing the circumference of your head by 3.14 (Pi). This will give you the average diameter.

This hat is made of steam-formed fur felt in the shop of the local Amish hatmaker. The hat comes with a soft sweatband sewn into the hat. The top of the crown has an indention running around the top, just inside the top edge of the crown. This is a fancier type of hat, and is also sometimes called a “dust-catcher” hat. This hat is very similar to hats worn by gun-slingers in the Wild West.

This is the standard shape for a comfortable fit for most men. These hats are also available in “round” or “long oval”. You can also make minor adjustments to the fit of the hat by directing steam towards the outside of the hat, just above the brim, and putting the hat on your head while it is still warm and soft. The hat will reharden in the shape of your head.

The black Amish dress hats are made by the local Amish hatmaker from fur felt. They are high quality. With many western ranchers ordering these hats for everyday wear. The size is calculated by the average diameter of your head, which is the circumference of your head divided by 3.14 (Pi).
Custom hats may also be available. Please contact me if you need a custom size or different brim or crown measurement. Standard crowns are just over 4” tall and standard brims are 3 1/2”, although other brim sizes are usually in stock.
